Authorship Pattern and Degree of Collaboration of International Journal of Advances in Social Science (IJASS) during 2014 – 2017: A Bibliometrics Study

ABSTRACT:

The purpose of the study to analyzes the Authorship Pattern and Degree of Collaboration of International Journal of Advances in Social Science (IJASS) during 2014 – 2017. In this study as a results found that during study period 178 articles published with 268 authors. and after further analysis found that the highest numbers 52 (29.21%) article published in the year 2014 and lowest 38 (21.34%) published in 2016. Whereas the highest numbers 74 (27.61%) of author productivity in the year 2017 and lowest numbers 55 (20.52%) of author productivity in the year 2015. highest contribution 16 (5.97%) Articles by the Vrinda Sengupta with first rank and Out of 268 contributors 158 contributors contributed with single author during (2014 – 2017) respectively.

 

 

 

INTRODUCTION:

International journal of Advances in social sciences (IJASS) is a popular Multidisciplinary peer reviewed journal field in the social sciences, commerce and Arts. The purpose of it journal publishes and disseminate research output in Demography, political science, public health, home science, Business Administration, Environmental study, Linguistics, Sociology, Commerce, Anthropology, Geography, History and Economics etc. the editor of this journal is Dr. R.B. Saudagar, Principal. Sapkal College of Pharmacy, Kalyani Hills Anjaneri, Nashik Maharashtra, and ISSN (online) 2454 – 2679. It journal published from AandVpublication Raipur Chhattisgarh. This publication is a Academic publisher it publishes book and journal in various subject field.

 

 

Bibliometric is a popular method of measuring the publication in this contest Authorship Pattern and Degree of Collaboration is a very important aspect in bibliometric study because it analysis the authorship pattern and productivity.

 

REVIEW OF LITERATURE:

Amsaveni and Harikrishanan (2018) as a results found that the highest number (111) h- index values in the year 2006. and further found that highest productivity, cited references and number of contributed authors in the year 2014. The relative growth rate was 0.19 and doubling time value was 11.135 years. The highest number of the contribution by Huang G. H. during the study period 1989 – 2014 respectively.

 

Nishavathi and Jeyshankar (2018) in their study observed that during the study period 2007 – 2016 most productivity year was 2016 with2141 publication and least productive year was 2007 with 1087 publication. Also most productive department was pathology with 892 publications. further found that most prolific author was kumar, R. with 840 publications followed by kumar, A.619 and sharma s. 462 publications respectively.

 

Satish Kumar (2018) found that during the study period 2001 – 2015 by Tata Institute of fundamental research (TIFR) Mumbai total 10491 research papers published. The Institute maximum numbers 8942 (85.23%) of the research papers published in the journals and major research area of subject of TIRF was Physics (45.48%), Astronomy and Astrophysics (21.46) and Mathematics (12.14%) etc. Most preferred journal of faculty members of the TIRF was “Physical Review D” during 2001 – 2015 respectively.

 

METHODOLOGY:

This study based on bibliometric methods. For this study Data were collected from www.anvpublication.org. in this methods analyzes the Authorship Pattern and Degree of Collaboration of International Journal of Advances in Social Science (IJASS) during 2014 – 2017.

 

OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY :

The main objective of this Study are  as follows.

a)      To Know  the Year wise Distribution of Articles

b)     To know Year wise Author Productivity

c)      To Analyze Authorship Pattern

d)     To Study Authorship Pattern of single and joint contributions

e)      To know  State wise distribution of Indian Authors

f)      To Study Degree of Collaboration

g)      To know  top Most seven productive authors

h)     To know  Authors Contributions with single Article

Table 1 show the year wise distribution of articles. The highest numbers 52 (29.21%) of the article published in the year 2014. Followed by 48 (26.96%) articles published in 2017. 40 (22.47%) published in 2015 and 38 (21.34%) published in 2016 respectively. As a result found that The highest numbers 52 (29.21%) article published in the year 2014 and lowest 38 (21.34%) published in 2016.

Table 2 indicates the Year wise distribution of Author Productivity. Which shows that the highest numbers 74 (27.61%) of author productivity in the year 2017. Followed by 72 (26.86%) of author productivity in the year 2014, 67 (25%) of author productivity in the year 2016, and 55 (20.52%) of author productivity in the year 2015 respectively. As a result found that the highest numbers 74 (27.61%) of author productivity in the year 201 lowest numbers  55 (20.52%) of author productivity in the year 2015.

 

Table 3 display the year wise authorship pattern. Which show that out of 268 contributors. 105 (39.18%) contributors contributed as a single author. 124 (46.27%) contributors contributed as a two author. 24 (8.95%) contributors contributed as a three author and 15 (5.60%) contributors contributed as a five author respectively. In contest as a result found that the highest numbers of the contributions 105 (27.61%) contributed by single author and lowest numbers of the contributions 15 (5.60%) contributed by five authors respectively.

Table 4 and Figure 2 Analysis the Authorship Pattern of single and joint contributions of International journal of Advances in social science (IJASS) during 2014 – 2017. Show that 105 (39.17%) contributors contributed as single authors and 163 (60.82%) contributors contributed as a multi authors respectively.

 

The data analysis of table 5 which is regarding the state wise distribution of Indian Authors. Display that out of eighteen states Chhattisgarh is the first rank in Author contributions with 167 (62.31%) followed by utter Pradesh is second rank with 19 % (7.8%) Madhya Pradesh is third rank with 18 (6.71%), West Bengal is fourth  rank with 13 %, Maharashtra is the five  rank with 12 %, Sikkim is the six  rank with 6 %, New Delhi and Punjab is the seventh  rank with 5 %, Karnataka and Pondicherry is the  eight rank with 4 %, Jammu Kashmir and Gujarat is the nine rank with 3 %, Rajasthan, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh and Telangana is the tenth rank with 2% and Odisha , Tamilnadu and Haryana is the eleventh rank with 3 %, as a result found that highest Authors contributors are from Chhattisgarh167 % and lowest contributors are from Odisha , Tamilnadu and Haryan with 3 % respectvily.

The data analysis of table - 6  display the Degree of Collaboration of  International journal of Advances in social science (IJASS) during 2014 – 2017. to determine Degree of author Collaboration in quantitative term the formula given by K. Subramanyam (1982) was used.

 

where -

DC = Degree of Collaboration

NM = Number of multi authored papers

NS = Number of single authored papers

DC= NM / NM + NS

DC  = 163/168+105

=163/268

= 60.82 %

as a results found that from table 6 the degree of author collaboration in the International journal of Advances in social science (IJASS) during 2014 – 2017. is 60.82 % which clearly indicates the dominance of multiple authors contributions.

Followed by the second highest contributions 5 (1.86%) by Satish kumar Agrawal and K. P. Kurry with second  rank. The third highest contributions 3 (1.11%) by Viplav Baranwal, Archana Sethi. Abdul Alim Khan, Usha Tiwari, Jiterdra kumar premi, K. S. Gurupanch, Brijendra pandey,B. L. Sonekar, Belqes saif Al- sowaidi, Pasi A.R., Dan Amitabha, Kunal Kanti De, Roy Bibhash and Jalaluddeen with third rank. FINDINGS:

1.      The highest numbers 52 (29.21%) article published in the year 2014 and lowest 38 (21.34%) published in 2016.

2.      The highest numbers 74 (27.61%) of author productivity were in the year 2017 and lowest numbers 55 (20.52%) of author productivity in the year 2015.

3.      The highest numbers of the contributions 105 (27.61%) contributed by single author and lowest numbers of the contributions 15 (5.60%) contributed by five authors respectively.

4.      Out of 268 contributors 105 (39.17%) contributors contributed as single authors and 163 (60.82%) contributors contributed as a multi authors respectively.

5.      The highest numbers of the contributations contributed by Vrinda Sengupta 16 (5.97%) Articles with first rank.

6.      During study period (2014 - 2017) Degree of colloboration is 60.82 %

 

CONCLUSION:

Basis on the findings it may say that during the study period (2014 – 2017). Found that 178 Article published with 268 authors and the highest numbers 52 (29.21%) article published in the year 2014 and lowest 38 (21.34%) published in the year 2016. Whereas the highest numbers 74 (27.61%) of author productivity were in the year 2017 and lowest numbers 55 (20.52%) of author productivity in the year 2015. highest contribution 16 (5.97%) Articles by the Vrinda Sengupta with first rank. Out of 268 contributors 158 contributors contributed with single author during (2014 – 2017) and 163 (60.82%) contributors contributed as a multi authors respectively.
